Ways to Give

Ways To Give

When you make a donation to SAL– whether it is of time, money, sponsorship or an in-kind gift – you change a child's life.

Donations are critical to our ability to keep our program costs minimal, if not free, allowing us to serve the youth of San Mateo County who are most in need. Your donation goes directly to supporting, expanding and adding new youth programs.

Founded in 1997 as a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization operating under the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office, the San Mateo County Sheriff's Activities League (SAL) has a long track record of delivering on its commitment to provide positive partnerships between youth, deputies and communities through our provision of safe, affordable and purposeful programs that truly make a difference. But it takes gifts and donations from people like you.

There are a number of ways you can give, please browse through the following options, and if you can't find what you are looking for, contact Gigi Carter for additional opportunities - gcarter@smcgov.org or 650-257-3408.

Act today and help SAL continue to "Be the Best Friend a Kid Can Have!"

Please know that all gifts and donations are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law.

Planned and Investment Giving

Planned Giving

Planned giving offers a meaningful way to extend your lifetime commitment to the advancement and support of SAL programs and the youth who need them most.

It is often done through a bequest in your Will or by you setting up a trust for which the San Mateo County Sheriff's Activities League (SAL) is the named beneficiary. Planned giving gifts allow you to optimize your philanthropy, while achieving your financial, estate and tax planning objectives.

Giving at Work

Corporate Matching Gift

Many employers have a matching gift program.  Contact your human resources department to inquire.

Employee/Workplace Giving

Research has shown that the good feelings you experience when helping others may be just as important to your health as exercise and a healthy diet.  But it’s the smile from a child or thankful person that shows you’re really making a difference in someone’s life.

To get your business involved, please contact Gigi Carter 650-257-3408 or gcarter@smcgov.org

Often supporters of the San Mateo County Sheriff's Activities League (S.A.L.) prefer to give of their time, professional services and/or the many products, services and supplies that keep our S.A.L. programs going. Here are three examples of In-Kind Giving:

  • Professional Services - Provide free or discounted professional services through your business and/or give of your own professional skills/expertise (accountancy services or painting a S.A.L.facility, as examples).
  • Materials/Supplies – Basketballs, art and craft supplies, office furnishings and equipment – S.A.L.'s need for non-cash gifts of this sort is extensive and ongoing.
  • Volunteer – Get involved with the youth, whether it is one or two hours a week or a particular day a month or for a specific program. We need you! Click here to learn more about S.A.L. volunteer opportunities.
